Orbital Alignment Repair Scheduled.

Deep Oblivion’s Navigation and Steering Bureau has issued a formal notice that the station is “pulling slightly to the left” in its orbital lane, and will get a station alignment later this week.

According to the maintenance report, the gyroscopic alignment is “within acceptable drift parameters for most civilian vessels” but not “up to fleet showroom standards.”

A full station alignment will be performed tomorrow at 0400 OHT. This will require temporarily powering down the primary attitude thrusters, jacking the gravity module six centimeters off its mounting bearings, and “eyeballing it until it looks straight.”

Residents are advised there may be minor disorientation during the procedure.

Those living in Deck Sectors 4 through 6 may notice the hallway floors tilting toward the starboard windows; this is normal and should be embraced.

Maintenance Supervisor Smitts has reminded all personnel that the last alignment in 2022 “went fine” despite lasting six days and leaving the station angled in a way that “felt sporty.” Volunteers are welcome to assist but must bring their own alignment gauges, measuring tapes, or “a good sense of symmetry.”

Docking services will remain available throughout the procedure, although incoming ships may be asked to “steer into the pull.”

Maintenance Follow-Up Memo
From: Smitts, Maintenance Supervisor
Subject: Station Alignment Results

Alignment procedure completed at approximately 0940 OHT.

Station now holds position within ±0.003 degrees of target axis. This is well inside Fleet tolerances, though some residents may still perceive a “lean” when walking past the mess hall. That’s just your inner ear adjusting—don’t file another ticket.

Minor note: In order to achieve optimal alignment, we used the “two-thruster pivot” method, which historically gives a slight bias toward the nearest gravitational body—in this case, Balthu. While this should have no operational impact, please be advised the station now visually appears to be “looking at” Balthu with suspicion.

Unrelated but worth mentioning: Fleet Traffic Control has reminded us that Deep Oblivion still owes a 700-credit fine for exceeding the warp-lane speed cap in Sector 11, Balthu Territory. This occurred during the last alignment run in 2022, when Captain Jake insisted we “open it up a little” to make up time. Payment remains outstanding.

If you experience unusual sliding, drifting, or find that unsecured items are collecting along one side of a corridor, contact Maintenance Deck B. Do not attempt to counter-align on your own.
